Judge ordered to never hold judicial office in New Mexico again

CARLSBAD, N.M. (KRQE) – A New Mexico judge accused of bad behavior will never be a judge in New Mexico again.

The state’s judicial standards commission filed a petition in October asking for Eddy County Magistrate Judge Henry Castaneda to be removed.

The 51-page petition outlined offensive material found in Castaneda’s email, including sexist, racist and lewd jokes.

The New Mexico Supreme Court on Monday accepted a request to permanently remove him from office.

It also ordered Castaneda to never run for or hold any New Mexico judicial office in the future.

Castaneda resigned earlier this month.
