Case involving NM congressional candidate moves to mental health court

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – He was caught on video running from police, now a New Mexico congressional candidate’s mental health is being called into question.

Late last year, Albuquerque Police arrested David Alcon on a stalking charge. Officers struggled to get Alcon in handcuffs and it took three of them to get him into the patrol car.

According to court documents, the state and the defense have agreed it would best for the case to move from a criminal court to a mental health court.

Alcon had been seeking Steve Pearce’s seat in Congress.
