APD makes 2 DWI arrest New Years Eve

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The new DWI numbers from Sunday night’s New Year’s Eve in Albuquerque may surprise you.

APD had one checkpoint in southwest Albuquerque.

They say 272 vehicles were screened Sunday night into Monday morning. Only two DWI arrests were made.

Police say 19 ride-sharing service vehicles went through the checkpoint.

Last week, Mayor Keller said Albuquerque must fix it’s DWI problem. Through November, there have been 31 alcohol-related driving deaths.
