Judge’s order could force some Teavana stores to stay open

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The state’s only Teavana store may not be closing after all.

Starbucks announced back in July the closure of all 379 of its Teavana stores including the location in Uptown. However, Simon Property Group, the shopping mall operator that owns Uptown, sued to stop the closures.

Simon argued Teavana’s exit would be a financial blow to the malls.

An Indiana judge agreed and issued a preliminary injunction requiring Starbucks to keep 77 stores in Simon’s malls open.
