Documents: Texas Church Shooter Escaped New Mexico Behavioral Facility

Devin Kelley, the man who killed 26 people in a shooting at a Texas church, had at least two prior incidents connected to New Mexico and his military service at Holloman Air Force Base near Alamogordo.

In one incident, Kelley is said to have escaped from a behavioral health facility in southeast New Mexico, while being accused of making death threats against a military chain of command.

In a second incident, information about Kelley from a domestic violence conviction was never reported by the Holloman Air Force Base to a federal database. Had the information been reported, Kelley may not have been able to purchase firearms.
