ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A man who killed a University of New Mexico student will stay in prison after the state Supreme Court denied his appeal.
In 2012, Bryce Franklin and Clifford Bearden brought 23-year-old Fernando Enriquez to El Malpais National Monument. Franklin shot him and pushed his body into a collapsed lava tube.
State Police discovered Enriquez’s body and charged Franklin with first-degree murder. He appealed saying his right to a speedy trial was violated. The court disagreed.
