Woman arraigned on felony charges following protest in Santa Fe

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – A woman arrested during a protest on the Santa Fe Plaza was arraigned on felony charges.

Jennifer Marley is charged with two counts of battery on a peace officer after officers say she stuck them. Marley is the leader of the group “Red Nation.”

The group rallied against the annual celebration of Conquistador Don Diego De Vargas last Friday, saying De Vargas represents a history of oppression of Native Americans.

Marley is expected back in court next month.
