Meetings planned to discuss methane hot spots above Four Corners

DURANGO, Colo. (KRQE) – A series of meetings are being held to discuss the methane hot spots above the Four Corners.

The Four Corners Air Quality Task Force hosted a forum Tuesday at the Durango Recreation Center to provide updated info based on different monitoring methods.

Another is planned for Wednesday at 9 a.m.

NASA has documented that cloud over the years. It shows the largest plume of methane in the nation.

While NASA is still investigating, they say the likely sources are venting from oil and gas activities, active coal mines and natural gas seeps.
