Famous actress calls out Roswell zoo over condition of animals

ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – The controversy at the Roswell zoo continues, and now a Hollywood icon is calling them out.

New Mexico resident and Academy Award nominee Ali MacGraw sent a letter to the city’s Parks and Recreation Department.

In the letter, she urges the Spring River Park and Zoo to find better homes for two overweight mountain lions and two bears documented with hair loss.

The zoo has been under fire by PETA for the condition of the animals. The animal rights group has repeatedly offered to help relocate animals at no cost to the city.

The city has said it’s working to fix and improve enclosures.
