Taos County deputy recovering after motorcycle crash

TAOS, N.M. (KRQE) – A Taos County deputy is recovering from a motorcycle crash Friday evening.

The sheriff’s department says Deputy Phillip Ortega was on his way to help a Taos Police officer make a felony arrest when a car pulled out in front of his motorcycle.

Ortega hit the Chevy Malibu and was ejected from his motorcycle. Ortega, an 11 year veteran of the department, was banged up but is recovering.
