Santa Fe National Forest lifts fire restrictions

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – The recent rains have helped ease fire danger in the Santa Fe National Forest prompting the lifting of fire restrictions.

Officials will lift the restrictions Friday at 8 a.m. That means campfires will once again be allowed, but the change comes with a warning — abandoned campfires are still the number one cause of unwanted wildfires, including the recent Cajete Fire. 

Just a reminder: fireworks are always prohibited in the forest.

El Morro National Monument is also rescinding its restrictions.
