Border Patrol seizes $689k at El Paso Port of Entry

EL PASO, Texas (KRQE) – A whole lot of money was discovered somewhere it shouldn’t have been.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized $689,000 Sunday afternoon at the El Paso Port of Entry. It was hidden underneath a speaker inside a car.

Authorities say the driver was a 28-year-old Juarez man.

While there’s no limit on how much money travelers can import or export, they must declare it. Hiding it is an indication it was not obtained lawfully.

All this money was seized and the driver charged with smuggling.
