ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – There’s a big controversy in Chaves County over the decision to close a road.
County commissioners voted Thursday to close Felix Canyon Road to the public, a road used by the public to access state and federal lands.
Commissioners say the request came from a family that owns a ranch that is divided by the road. They say they’ve had trouble with people trespassing, poaching and theft, but many argue that closing the road is unfair.
Some are exploring their legal options to try to reverse the decision.
