Clovis police identify victims in possibly connected murders

CLOVIS, N.M. (KRQE) – Police have identified the two men murdered in Clovis.

Witnesses called 911 after seeing a man shot in the back at an apartment complex on Martin Luther King Boulevard about 4 p.m. Thursday.

The victim, identified as 43-year-old David Lopez, died a short time later.

While responding to that scene, officers located a vehicle a few block away away that had run off the road and into a fence. They found 25-year-old Carlos Gallegos dead inside.

Police say the two crime scenes were connected, but they have not said how.
