Santa Fe man pleads guilty to murder

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – A Santa Fe man has pleaded guilty to a gruesome murder last summer.

Anthony Diaz, 27, killed 52-year-old Santiago Quintana in August after a fight at a homeless camp near the railroad tracks on Saint Michael’s Drive.

Diaz kicked Quintana, then bashed him in the head with a rock.

According to the Santa Fe New Mexican, under a plea deal, prosecutors dropped charges against Diaz in two other cases.

He’ll be sentenced on second degree murder charges after he undergoes an evaluation. He faces up to 15 years in prison.
