Budget shortfall could affect funds for Roosevelt County Court’s rent

ROOSEVELT COUNTY, N.M. (KRQE) – The Roosevelt County Magistrate Court may have trouble paying its rent.

County Manager Amber Hamilton received a letter from the New Mexico Administrative Office of the Courts, detailing a $1.3 million shortfall in the Magistrate Court Division.

That money is sued to help pay the $29,000 a month lease at the Roosevelt Courthouse.

The city manager says this could affect the May and June payments.

They say they are preparing for a worst case scenario trying to negotiate future payments.
