BioPark’s female snow leopard diagnosed with cancer

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Sad news from the Albuquerque BioPark. Zoo staff says 14-year-old Kachina, a female snow leopard, was diagnosed with cancer in January. Veterinarians are unable to remove the tumor because of how close it is to her neck and throat. Kachina has been at the zoo since 2003 and is a companion to a 15-year-old, Azeo. Together they’ve welcomed seven litters. The BioPark says they are doing everything they can to keep Kachina comfortable in her remaining days.
