West Mesa Aquatic Center holds Great Southwest Sea Perch Challenge

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)– A robotics competition held Saturday gave middle and high school students the chance to show off their tech skills.

Dozens of teams from schools around the southwest gathered at the West Mesa Aquatic Center for the Great Southwest Sea Perch Challenge.

Each team had to navigate an underwater course with remotely operated vehicle, or ROV for short.

Organizers say it’s a great way to prepare kids for STEM careers while giving them a chance to have some fun.

The tops teams will head to a competition in Atlanta, Georgia.
