Lawsuit against Albuquerque jail to come to an end

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A more than 20-year lawsuit against Bernalillo County could finally come to an end.

Jimmie McClendon filed the lawsuit in 1995 on behalf of a group of inmates at MDC.

There’s now a court approved road map to end the suit.

It was filed because of overcrowding at the downtown Albuquerque jail. The lawsuit kept going once the jail moved to the Westside because of overcrowding there. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
