APS talks staff cuts, funding

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – On Monday, Albuquerque Public Schools talked about staff cuts at its headquarters. A district spokesperson says the district’s finance committee began a review of 46 departments to find places to save money and be more efficient. APS is expected to get nearly $10 million less in state funding next year. That’s largely because of a drop in state revenues and low enrollment at the district. Officials say they hope to eliminate only a handful of positions.
