State Police investigate fatal shooting at Smith’s in Edgewood

EDGEWOOD, N.M. (KRQE) –  One man is dead after a shooting at the Smith’s Food and Drug store in Edgewood Sunday.

Around 4 p.m., an armed robbery occurred at Smith’s Fuel Center.

New Mexico State Police say a man armed with a gun and masked with a red bandana entered and robbed the gas attendant.

During the robbery, the attendant was shot. He was transported from the scene and later died at the hospital.

The suspect was described as Caucasian or Hispanic, approximately 25-30 years old, and around 5-foot-10 with a thin build.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the State Police at 505-841-9256.

This is an ongoing investigation.
