Police clear SWAT scene in northeast Albuquerque

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A SWAT situation in northeast Albuquerque is now over.

Police responded to Central and Eubank at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday to find a suspected copper thief on the roof of a former Golden Corral.

The subject has been identified as Kenneth Paul Abeyta.

According to police, Abeyta was on the roof and they did not know if he had a gun. This resulted in a SWAT call out.

By 5:30 a.m. Abeyta had given up and was taken into police custody.
