Police investigating fatal accident near Atrisco, Western Trails

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Police say they are investigating a fatal accident that happened on Atrisco at Western Trails in northwest Albuquerque.

The crash happened Wednesday afternoon.

After 10 p.m. Albuquerque Police Department released new details saying a car with three people t-boned a truck with only the driver inside.

Police say two passengers in the car died.  Two others were transported to UNM Hospital and are listed in critical condition.

The driver of the car is in critical condition and the driver of the truck is also in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The busy intersection was shut down during the investigation. It has since reopened.

Police say speed appears to be a factor and are still investigating the scene.
