Shooting rumors result in extra security at Valencia High School

LOS LUNAS, N.M. (KRQE) – Class is in session at Valencia High School Friday and administrators want parents to know extra security measures are in place.

Parents were notified early this week on rumors that a student was going to shoot up Valencia High School Friday.

It all started with a message on social media saying students should stay home Friday.

Officials say they brought additional security as a precaution, but have not been able to identify an actual threat. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
