ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Police are trying to find out more after a woman was found dead on I-40 Wednesday morning.
According to the Albuquerque Police Department, officers were called to the area around 3:30 a.m. When they arrived, the incident was deemed a full motors call-out and a portion of the interstate was shut down.
Police initially thought that woman was killed in a crash but say investigators did not find evidence of that. Now they are trying to find out what happened.
At this time police say they have no leads and very little information. They are asking anyone with information who may have been traveling westbound on I-40 between midnight and 3:30 a.m. to contact them.
APD says the woman did not have any form of identification with her. Investigators are waiting for the Office of the Medical Investigator to help identify her.
