Proposal would allow doctors to help terminally ill patients end their lives

SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – Two Democratic lawmakers are pushing a proposal that would allow terminally ill patients in New Mexico to end their lives with help from doctors.

The bill filed by Rep. Bill McCamley and Rep. Deborah Armstrong would prevent New Mexico doctors from facing prosecution.

In June 2016, the New Mexico Supreme Court made it clear the current law on the books makes this a fourth-degree felony.
