Sandia delivers over 900 gifts to kids in foster system

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Wednesday, Sandia delivered more than 900 gifts to the United Way Headquarters for children in the CYFD foster system.

The program is organized by Sandia’s Community Involvement Department, which helps make Christmas for foster children a little brighter.

The kids get to make a wish list and Sandia Labs makes it possible.

“A lot of times foster kids just get something that someone’s donated, but to actually ask for something and someone here you, we all just want to be heard,” said Veronica Montano-Pilch, New Mexico Kids Matter.

Last year, the program delivered about 500 gifts. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
