ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A car thief who keeps getting out of jail was in front of a judge again for sentencing.

It comes nine months after a judge took it easy on him but threatened to go hard on him if he messed up again.

However, he got another big break.

Back in March, Christopher Dominguez faced up to ten years in prison for five separate car theft cases over the course of a year including one where he led police on a chase.

The judge gave him eight months and a tough lecture.

But he was caught with drugs in rehab so on Wednesday a different judge could have sentenced him to the rest of the ten years.

But Dominguez, promised to be good.

“I’m tired of being in the system I just want a chance. I want to do my probation and put this behind me I’m sick of being a failure I’m ready to move forward with my life,” said Dominguez.

The judge gave Dominguez drug court but did promise to give him real time if he gets into more trouble. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
