KRQE Cares helps provide new shoes to Albuquerque kids

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Thanks to your generous donations, KRQE News 13 was once again able to help give new shoes to Albuquerque kids in need.

KRQE News 13 was at Tomasita Elementary Friday as part of our KRQE Cares program. Every kid at the Title 1 school was fitted for a new pair of shoes and also received other items.

Payless Shoes and the Albuquerque Assistance League are also a huge part of making this happen.

About 400 kids got new shoes at Tomasita Elementary Friday. This is the 13th school that has been served as part of this program. That amounts to about 6,000 kids who have gotten a new pair of shoes and there are another 2,000 on the list to get them this year.

As part of KRQE Cares, there are also food and book drives throughout the year.
