John’s Friday Afternoon Forecast

Warming temps for the weekend...

If you’re not a fan of the cold weather, you’ll enjoy the weekend! Temperatures will still be cold overnight, but with a westerly flow taking over, we’ll see temperatures warm to above average readings in the afternoon. The biggest warm up will be found across the east, where afternoon highs will run as much as 40° warmer than on Thursday! Albuquerque will be nearly 20° warmer from Thursday to the weekend.

Another disturbance will pass well to the north over the weekend, but the trailing cold front will edge into Northern New Mexico on Sunday. This will allow for a few rain showers and some high mountain snow across the northwest quadrant of the state. Right now the weather looks quiet for most of next week as well. Long range models suggest the storm track may return to the state the following week leading into Christmas.
