ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)- It didn’t start well for the Lobos on the road in their Mountain West-Missouri Challenge game with Illinois State. Tim Williams was iffy to play in this one, and it turned out that he did in fact get a concussion from that hit to the neck/head area in their last game. Williams is under concussion protocol and as of now his status is still unsure for their next game on Wednesday.
The Lobos kept things close the entire time with the Red Birds. Minus Williams, the Lobos had other players step up. Joe Furstinger got in some good minutes, finishing with 9 points and a game high of 11 rebounds.
Elijah Brown would lead all Lobo scorers with 21 points, and he even led a late game push draining a three cutting the Illinois State lead to 1 with under a minute to play. There were 9 lead changes in this game, but that would be it for the lobos as they lose 79-74.
UNM is now 5-3 overall on the season, and they will host UTEP next on Wednesday at 7 pm. Stick with KRQE Sports for all of the latest on Tim Williams’ status for that Wednesday night game.
