Dog stolen from Albuquerque found in California four years later

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A local family lost their dog more than four years ago. Now, Aries has been found hundreds of miles away from home in Southern California.

According to the San Diego Humane Society, Aries — a large Border Collie mix — was brought in to their Oceanside facility as a stray on Tuesday. The microchip was scanned and it turns out, Aries was reported stolen from Albuquerque back in May 2012.

The organization said they have reached out to the family and arrangements are being made to get Aries back home. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
