Presbyterian Hospital honors organ donors, transplant families in ceremony

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Presbyterian Hospital honored the gift of life Friday. They held their Donate Life Rose Ceremony to honor organ donors and transplant families.

Personal dedications from recipients and donors are attached to the roses, and those roses will be included in the Donate Life Rose Parade float at this year’s rose parade in Pasadena.

“You start to feel again I mean you have desires of looking out the window and actually seeing life outside, I mean even the blue sky, I mean just anything,” said Willie Navarro-Martinez, organ recipient.

Presbyterian’s Kidney Transplant Center is one of two in New Mexico. Since 1986, they’ve performed more than 950 transplants.
