ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Illinois State is the next team on the schedule for Craig Neal’s 5-2 Lobo men’s basketball team.
The Lobos slipped past a fiesty Abilene Christian team Wednesday night 64-55 with Lobo star forward Tim Williams spending the bulk of the night watching. He only played 16 minutes still feeling the effects of taking a shot to the throat last week.
Williams did not practice Thursday. Coach Neal did not comment on whether Williams will be available at Illinois State Saturday, he said he needed more information. Neal did acknowledge that he felt Williams’ absence in Wednesday’s game.
“I think it was culture shock for them,” said Neal. “They have complete confidence in Connor and O. I just don’t think that we throw it to them like we do Tim. I think that is a little bit of a different shock for them.”
Lobos guard/forward Sam Logwood also sat out of practice Thursday nursing a leg bruise. The Lobos and Illinois State play Saturday at 6 p.m. The game will be on ESPN 3.
The Lobos also announced Thursday that they will be playing in the Emerald Classic in November of 2017.
Maryland, St. Bonaventure and TCU are just a few of the teams that are a part of the field.
The third round and championship game will be played Thanksgiving weekend in Niceville, Florida.
