SANTA FE, N.M. (KRQE) – Police have arrested a Santa Fe mother for the deadly abuse of her toddler.

Detectives say Miranda Rabago took the baby to the hospital last week after she claims she found him unconscious, but police say the child had bruises over much of his body, a brain bleed and was severely malnourished.

The child’s condition was so grave he was airlifted to UNM Hospital where he later died.

While Rabago claims she has no idea how her son got hurt, investigators felt they had enough to charge her.
