ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)- Craig Neal and his Lobos celebrated the 50th anniversary of “The Pit” with a 64-55 victory over Abilene Christian Wednesday night.
An announced crowd of 11,154 fans watched the Lobos improve their record to 5-2. Lobos guard Elijah Brown lead the team in scoring with 13 points. He also pulled down eight rebounds.
Three Lobos finished the game in double figures. Senior forward Tim Williams was not one of them. Williams scored eight points in a limited 16 minutes of time on the floor. He is believed to be battling a sore throat.
Lobos center Obij Aget scored 12 points while Xavier Adams chipped in 10 against a feisty ACU team that refused to go away.
The Lobos won the points in the paint battle 34-18. They also scored 21 points off turnovers compared to 10 for ACU. Former Lobo players were honored at halftime as part of the 50 anniversary celebration. The first 7,500 fans also received rally towels. The Lobos next game at WisePies Arena AKA The Pit will be Wednesday when they host the UTEP Miners. Saturday the Lobos are on the road at Illinois State.
