ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – It’s that time of year again when a familiar, friendly face pops up along I-40.
The group has been building the tumbleweed snowman since 1995. Crews began working on this guy last week before Thanksgiving by picking out the tumbleweeds for the body of the snowman, and painting them white.
They say it could be the biggest one yet, with the bottom of the snowman being about 10 feet wide.
“It’s just anything else, you have to have an eye for what you do. Here at AMAFCA I do a lot of odd jobs, you know everything we do is kind of an odd job. This is something they tell me to do and want it to look pretty,” said James Moya, welder.
Crews were out at about 7:30 a.m. to put the snowman together and set him next to I-40. You’ll be able to see the snowman along I-40 until the first week of January.
