ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)- Opponents playing Craig Neal and his Lobos know that Tim Williams and Elijah Brown can score. That is where the firepower dries up.
Neal is looking for other players to step forward and be a threat. During the off-season, Lobos’ guard and forward Sam Logwood worked extra hard on his shooting touch and was set to fill a role as another threat on the team. He has shown flashes but has yet to become consistent.
After returning from the Wooden Legacy Classic in California and 1& 2 showing, coach Neal has seen enough. He is ready to shake up part of his starting lineup to get the production he seeks.
“We are going to have to find somebody,” said Neal. “I think Damian Jefferson is one of those guys that can do it. I am going to take a long hard look at who we are starting and who we are playing and there might have to be some changes.”
Williams and Brown lead the Lobo charge over the weekend with Williams making the all tournament team. The 4-2 Lobos return to action Wednesday when they host Abilene Christian. The game will mark the 50th anniversary of The Pit and has a 7 p.m. start time.
