ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)- They will find out for sure by Sunday where they will play their next game. Bob Davie and his University of New Mexico football team followed up a 7 win season with 8 wins this past Saturday. Most Bowl projections have the Lobos staying home and going to the December 17 New Mexico Bowl.
There is at least one site forecasting the Lobos for a stop in Tucson. CBS Sports has the Lobos going to the Arizona Bowl to face Idaho December 30. Waiting is a good problem to have. Not long ago the Lobos were done after the last regular season game on a consistent basis.
Those days are, hopefully, done for quite some time. Lobos quarterback Lamar Jordan said his team’s fortunes turned around last season, when they started believing they were winners. It was after a Lobo victory over Utah State.
“You know it was amazing,” said Jordan. “I will never forget the whole class of 13 you know came together in the locker room and we were like look at what we done. We need to keep going, get a Bowl game. Ever since that game, it’s like we need to go out and be the best.”
The Lobos finished the season 8-4 with a lopsided 56-35 win over Wyoming which also gave the Lobos a share of the Mountain Division crown of the Mountain West Conference.
