ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)- It was around 4:30 in the morning when many Ventana Ranch residents said they heard a loud crash.
“It was enough that it woke me up out of a sleep,” said a resident that did not want to be identified.
She said she and her husband woke up to find a shattered window in their home.
“Two rocks had been thrown through our window,” she said.
She said the vandals used a rock from their front yard to break the windows. After her husband called police, he noticed his truck had also been heavily damaged.
Other homes were hit in neighborhoods close by. The woman whose home and car were vandalized said the police officer that wrote her report left abruptly because he told her there were a number of other homes in the area that had been hit by vandals in a similar fashion.
“Talking with people today, I believe there was like 17 or 18 homes, that were vandalized,” said the woman.
A family’s bus turned into an RV had at least four windows broken while parked on Carson Mesa. The owner said he had no idea how much the damage would cost. The president of the Ventana Ranch Neighborhood association said at least three different neighborhoods were hit.
The home owner said she just wants the people responsible caught.
“It’s our home and it’s where our kids have been raised and so we try to take good care of it, and it’s just a violation.” she said.
As of Sunday night, APD hadn’t yet responded to a KRQE News 13 for request on how many vandalism victims there were in that neighborhood, or whether there are any suspects or arrests at this time.
