ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)- Lobo Women’s Basketball dropped their 2nd straight game in UNM’s annual Thanksgiving tournament on Saturday. The 79-67 loss to St. Joseph’s placed the Lobos last in the tournament.
It was a fast start for the Lobos as they led 21-6 at the end of the first period, but the rest of the game wasn’t so pretty for the Lobos. St. Joseph’s really executed their offense well in the last 3 periods of the game, and the Lobos post presence was nowhere to be found in the 2nd half.
Cherise Beynon would lead the Lobos in scoring with 18, and Richelle van der Keijl would chip in 15 points, but would foul out before the end of this one.
Richelle was named to the All-Tournament team after accumulating 36 points, 24 rebounds, and six in 2 games two games. It was a tough loss for this Lobo team that has dropped to 2-3 overall this season. They now head to Las Cruces for the 2nd installment of this year’s Rio Grande Rivalry. They take on the Aggies on Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
