Fidel Castro dies at 90

HAVANA, CUBA – Former Cuban President Fidel Castro has died at age 90.

His brother and current President Raul Castro announced the news late Friday on state television.

Fidel Castro’s island nation, brought the world to the brink of nuclear war and he defied the power of 10 U.S. presidents during his 50-year rule.

He survived long enough to see his brother, Raul Castro negotiate an agreement with President Barack Obama to move to restore diplomatic ties for the first time since they were severed in 1961.
