Lobo men’s hoops drops their first game of the year

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Lobo Men’s Basketball opened up The Wooden Legacy Tournament with a 92-72 loss to Virginia Tech on Thursday.

The Lobos hung with the Hokies in the first half, as it was back fourth until about the 10 minute mark.

The Lobos would hit an offensive lull and really struggled on defense.

Tim Williams led the Lobos yet again in this game with 19 points and 11 rebounds, but he was the only consistent point producer for the Lobos on Thursday.

UNM went 4-14 from the three point line, and their defense in transition was terrible.

Elijah Brown would chip in 16 points, but he still has not found his rhythm as he seems to be forcing a lot of his shots.

The now 3-1 Lobos will take on Cal State Northridge next on Friday at 1 p.m.

That game will be televised on ESPN U.
