ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KRQE)- It’s a condition with a tendency for unprovoked seizures and November is all about creating awareness.

November is Epilepsy Awareness month. Epilepsy affects one percent of the population, making it one of the most common neurological conditions.

Dr. Jose Padin Rosado, with the UNM Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, along with Epilepsy Support and Education Services Board members, Kristi McNair and Robert Sandoval, joined KRQE’s This Morning team to discuss the importance of epilepsy awareness. Watch above.

With epilepsy being the fourth most common neurological disorder, it is important to note that there is help. The Epilepsy Support and Education Services provide support groups and outreach to the community.

For those that fail two anti-epileptic medications in therapy the patient will be referred to the epilepsy diagnosis.

Albuquerque has the only level four epilepsy center in the whole state.
