Lobo Men’s Soccer falls to Washington in NCAA Tournament

SEATTLE, WA (KRQE)- The Lobo Men’s Soccer team lost to Washington in Seattle on Sunday night 4-1. This loss ends their run at a 2016 NCAA Tournament title. UNM finished their season 12-7-3 after the loss, but what an amazing run they made to get to this point, as they won the programs first Conference-USA tournament title, and defeated Portland at home in a PK shootout.

Things looked great for the Lobos early as sophomore Patrick Khouri scored the first goal in the 21st minute of the game, but the huskies would tie the game before the half and take control in the 2nd. Washington went on to score 3 2nd half goals. The Lobos had their chances with 5 shots on goal and 7 corners, but they just couldn’t find the net.

This season marks the 6th best in school history as UNM Men’s soccer has only made it passed the 2nd round in the NCAA Tournament 5 times in their tenure.
