ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)– Some volunteers weren’t afraid to get their feet wet and their hands dirty to make the Rio Grande a cleaner place.
One of the organizers says it started spontaneously when he and his friends were hiking by the river and noticed trash in the water.
They waded in and found themselves hauling far more trash out of the water than they could carry. So they took to Facebook to find more volunteers and Sunday the group held their third official clean-up day.
The group is called “Action Over Talk” and its mission is to address problems by getting out into the community and doing something rather than simply talking.
