Lobo men’s soccer advance on penalty kicks against Portland

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The University of New Mexico Lobos and the Portland Pilots fought through regulation and two overtime periods before deciding who would advance in the NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament.

The Lobos won 6-5 on penalty kicks, setting up a date Sunday against 11 seed Washington. Just like he did in the Conference USA Championship game, Ford Parker entered the game as keeper for the penalty kick phase and held the Pilots short. It was the second time he has done so against an opponent in as many weeks.

The Lobos were the aggressor in regulation with 16 shots on goal to only 5 for the Pilots. The hard fought contest gave the Lobos their 8th straight victory. It also kept them undefeated at home.
