UNM opens school-based health clinic at Manzano High School

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Students at Manzano High School don’t have to go far when it comes to health care.

A ribbon-cutting was held Tuesday at the school for a new UNM school-based health clinic right on campus.

The clinic offers physicals, wellness exams, and early detection for things like diabetes, obesity and depression.

“It’s just a great, like I said, opportunity for the students who don’t have the access to the doctor’s office to the health care,” Alyssa Gallegos, student body president, said. “I mean this is free service, it’s literally ten steps away from school; we can come during lunch, after school.”

This is UNM’s seventh school-based clinic in Albuquerque Public Schools.
