It’s going to be a warm afternoon across New Mexico! Afternoon highs will be pushing near records, with a couple of record highs likely across the east. Enjoy the warm weather while it lasts, because big changes are on the way!
Wednesday will be another mild day, though not as warm as Tuesday. Our next storm passes to our north through Colorado on Thursday. We’ll be on the south side of the storm, which means gusty westerly winds statewide. Most of the snow will go to our north, but some light accumulations will be possible over the Northern Mountains.
The biggest impact of this storm will be sharply colder temperatures by Friday. Afternoon highs will drop anywhere from 20° – 30° between Wednesday and Thursday. This will also likely mean the first freeze of the season in the Rio Grande Valley Friday morning. The storm clears out for the weekend, leading to sunny skies and a modest warm up.
