ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE)- Lobos’ kicker Jason Sanders is the Mountain West Special Teams Player of the Week.
It is the second time he has won the honor this season. Sanders was 3 for 3 on field goal attempts in a Lobos victory at Utah State last Saturday.
He made field goals of 36, 37 and 40 yards which ended up being the game winner with only 1:06 remaining in the game.
“I try to go out there calm, you know, confident in what I can do,” said Sanders. “I made two field goals before that which made, I think, an impact on that last kick. I think it was about the confidence going in there.”
Sanders also had four touchbacks on six kickoffs. The victory over Utah State made it five straight wins for the Lobos and improved the team’s overall record to 7-3 and 5-1 in the Mountain West.
The Lobos are at Colorado State Saturday.
